What is a Lightroom Preset?
A Lightroom preset is a pre-saved editing configuration that instantly applies a specific look or style to your photos. Think of it as a filter that’s custom-designed by professionals. Whether you want a moody tone, vibrant colors, or clean edits, presets can save you time and elevate your photography.
Step 1: Download the Preset
Click the Download Button:
- Locate the download button on the page or email where you purchased the preset.
- Click it to initiate the download.
Download the File:
- Click the Download button. The preset file will typically be in
.xmp
or.dng
format. - Save the file to an easy-to-find location:
- On a computer, save it in your Downloads folder.
- On a smartphone, save it to your Files or a specific folder where you can locate it later.

Step 2: Import the Preset into Lightroom
For Lightroom Desktop (Classic or CC):
- Open Lightroom on your computer.
- Navigate to the Develop Module.
- In Lightroom Classic, find it in the top-right corner.
- Locate the Presets Panel on the left-hand side.
- Click the + Icon in the Presets Panel.
- Select Import Presets from the dropdown menu.
- Find and select the downloaded preset file from Step 1.
- Click Import, and your preset will appear in the Presets Panel, ready to use.
For Lightroom Mobile:
- Open the Lightroom app on your phone.
- Tap the Add Photos button (usually a “+” icon).
- Locate the
.dng
file you downloaded from Google Drive. Import it as a photo. - Open the imported photo in Lightroom.
- Tap the Three Dots icon (top-right corner) and select Create Preset.
- Name your preset and assign it to a group (optional).
- Tap Save. The preset is now stored in your Lightroom app for easy access.
Step 3: Apply Your Preset
- Open any photo in Lightroom.
- Go to the Presets Panel (Desktop) or the Presets tab (Mobile).
- Click or tap your installed preset to apply it to your photo.
- Adjust as needed to suit your image perfectly!
